New Zealand and England get U20 World Championships under way in style

Last year’s winners had the most comfortable of starts against Samoa.

IRELAND’S POOL B opponents New Zealand made light work of Scotland in their opening game of the U20 World Championships in Georgia this morning.

The Baby Blacks ran out out 42-20 winners with Tima Fainga’anuku scoring three of their six tries.

Dalton Papali’i, Asafo Aumua and Orbyn Leger also crossed the whitewash for New Zealand who top the pool on five points with Ireland’s encounter with Italy to come at 3.30pm this afternoon.

In Pool A, defending champions England ran in 12 tries against Samoa in a 74-17 victory.

Alistair Crossdale, Gabriel Ibitoye, Zach Mercer and Dominic Morris each scored two tries in the 57-point win.

Australia play Wales in the other Pool A game later this afternoon.
